The Salomon Palace with Renaissance and Gothic elements as well as other monuments witness the important role of Gračišće through history, when it was bigger and stronger than Pazin.
Gračišće is one of the centres of green Istria. In the 16th century it was larger and stronger than Pazin, but it was badly damaged during the wars and peasant uprisings. The medieval walls, the town gates, the round tower (1500), the town loggia (1549), the magnificent Salomon Palace with Renaissance and Gothic elements are all preserved. Several old churches as well as residential and crafts houses are also parts of the heritage of Gračišće.
