The Istrian art heritage is primarily influenced by the Venetian culture, although Venice had never conquired entire Istria. The dominance of Venetian architectural shapes characterizing entire streets and squares of Istrian towns was observed in the early 15th century, even in smaller towns. Numerous multi-storey buildings were erected, which façades always had spacious and decorated windows and balconies made in the Venetian Floral Gothic style.
